March 17/11

These are hydrangeas that I picked out of my garden last year and dried.  They are my favourite flower.
I thought today I would put up some of my favourite quotes on gardening.

"I never had any other desire so strong, and so like to covetousness, as that one which I have had always, that I might be master at last of a small house and a large Garden".  ~Abraham Cowley, The Garden, 1666

"In my garden there is a large place for sentiment.  My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams.  The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful".  ~Abram L. Urban

"As a gardener, I'm among those who believe that much of the evidence of God's existence has been planted".  ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

"You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt".  ~Author Unknown

  1. I really like your hydrangeas. They have gone out of fashion now in England, but every time I see one it reminds me of my mother. She planted one at the home I grew up in when I was five.

  2. They are very popular in Canada Tom. Used in gardens and for weddings. They are such a classic flower. Glad I could bring up a good memory.
